Frequently Asked Questions
No. Simply email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or via the form on the contact us page and our team will be happy to help you consider our services.
There is overlap between the different disciplines, for example both our Occupational Therapists and our Physiotherapists can help with motor co-ordination issues, but they will use different approaches.
Speech and Language Therapy can encompass many areas and at Therapy in Praxis we ensure we have the right team around your child.
One of the team will speak to you to understand the nature of your concerns, and then the team will decide together who is the most appropriate therapist or approach for you and your child to consider.
This will depend on the nature of the therapy. We will normally see a parent on their own first and then decide with you how the therapy should proceed and the extent of your involvement within the clinic-based intervention. For example older children who attend for support with physical needs often prefer a ‘social’ type session with peers of their age, as opposed to parents, to emulate a natural social environment.
As long as we have an open appointment time available, you could be seen within the week. We do not operate waiting lists and if in the unlikely event we are unable to accommodate you, will refer you on to another recommended therapist.
Sessions vary between 45minutes to 2 hours depending on the age of your child, which therapy is most appropriate, and the purpose of the appointment.
Assessments generally take longer than an average therapy session would. Similarly younger children typically cope better with shorter duration appointments but it is always individual-child specific!
This really depends on the nature of the problem and the level of concern. We will be happy to discuss this with you and make recommendations regarding this once we know you and your child better.
On average children tend to attend sessions once per week unless they have more complex needs which might indicate a more intensive approach
It is never easy to predict treatment length since many factors influence the success of therapy. Depending on the nature and severity of the difficulty your child has, therapy could last from just a few weeks to a number of months.
Children with complex needs may need longer-term support. If this is the case we will be happy to discuss and agree a number of therapy sessions with a review date for future decision-making.
Assessment and interventions are individualised to each presenting referral. Therapy in Praxis will forward a copy of our fee tier as a baseline. Bespoke packages are subject to price on application. An employment agreement will be prepared to secure all fees, terms and conditions which both parties sign up to in order to avoid the potential for misinterpretation or dispute.
We have a strict cancellation policy Please refer to our terms and conditions for full details.
